Florida Law Review Membership Information for 2025
Anyone interested in joining the Florida Law Review must be a law student at the Levin College of Law.
Eligibility and Competition
Rising second-year students can enter the Florida Law Review membership competition. Conducted every early summer after the first academic year, this Unified Write-On Competition comprises an essay, a Bluebook exam, and a personal statement.
While academic excellence earns some students automatic invitations, the competition is open to all students, irrespective of class standing. For fair evaluation, all submissions are anonymized before review by the selection committee.
Transfer students who have four remaining semesters are also eligible to partake in a similar competition in the fall.
Membership Responsibilities
Once admitted, members primarily focus on preliminary research edits for upcoming publications. The first year also involves writing a Note, a comprehensive legal essay, on a subject of the member’s choosing. Many of these Notes are later selected for publication in the Florida Law Review.
Contact and Orientation
For membership inquiries, please email our Executive Notes & Comments Editor, Olivia Potthast, at FLRWriteon@law.ufl.edu.
Orientation meetings will be held during the spring semester to address any questions from prospective members.
