The Dunwody Distinguished Lecture in Law Series
During the spring semester of every academic year, the Florida Law Review hosts the Dunwody Distinguished Lecture in Law series at the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. This series attracts some of America’s leading legal scholars to address contemporary legal or societal topics.
The series was generously established by the law firms of Dunwody, White and Landon, P.A., Mershon, Sawyer, Johnston, Dunwody and Cole, and the U.S. Sugar Corporation. It honors the commitment and excellence of Elliot and Atwood Dunwody. Both brothers left indelible marks on the Florida Bar and stood as exemplary figures in the legal profession. As alumni of the University of Florida College of Law, they tirelessly worked towards enhancing social and economic conditions within Florida.
This series seeks to perpetuate the ideals set by the Dunwody brothers, serving as a platform for renowned legal scholars to share innovative and challenging thoughts.

The Allen L. Poucher Legal Education Series
In memory of Allen L. Poucher, Sr., this series was established in 2006. An esteemed legal practitioner, family man, and humanitarian, Allen’s journey in law spanned over six decades after his graduation from the University of Florida in 1942. With strong ties to Democratic politics, he was also a devoted philanthropist and visionary, having founded the Jacksonville Episcopal High School.
Betty K. Poucher, his wife, served the Army Air Corps during World War II. A dedicated philanthropist, Betty has supported numerous causes, including children’s and arts initiatives in Jacksonville, Florida. Her endowment ensures that the lecture series continues to inspire future generations by hosting influential speakers.
